Indie: It's Alive And Kicking
Indie's Golden Years
I remember 2004 with a significant vodka Redbull haziness. There was an indie disco on all but Sunday nights and Manchester was finding it's musical mojo again with some cracking local folks riding the wave set in play a few years earlier by the likes of the Libertines and The Strokes. Thumping around greasy hollows with crazy cats in t-shirt and tie combinations was my therapy. DJ's knew what we wanted, Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths and then a bit of Happy Mondays for dessert.
These days Indie music has taken a step out of the limelight and let others have some fun. That is not to say that the scene is dead by any means, scratch the surface and the underground is chock full of lads and lasses cranking out some of the best the genre has seen in a long time.
